Wow. It's been a while. I was surprised this blog was still up.
So I got a notification on my phone from Spotify that a new album from Disarmonia Mundi was now available. I was pretty stoked about that and headed over to #GooglePlayMusic to add it to my library while I was shuffle playing it in #Spotify. You see my dilemma here? I'm paying for GPM but the more personalized service is Spotify and to some extent #Pandora with its notifications. I've pretty much given up ever going to the GPM store front since I will get treated to a selection of music that makes me want to gag rather than anything I'm interested in buying. I just feel a bit more of a connection with Spotify at this point because my communication with that service is, hello, based on what is in my library and the playlists I have made up and or follow. Sure, the generic "new music" emails still contain pop and hip hop and country music and usually get deleted without even being opened but the push notifications are what make me smile. I would love it if the service I am paying for would give me some love back ya know? Unfortunately I have so much music uploaded to GPM and added to my library that there probably is no going back. I just wish any music service could personalize the store front that you land on based off your musical preferences. If that's not possible then at least GPM could personalize notifications the same way Spotify and Pandora do.
