The Casual Game Craze

A lot of people are upset about the rise of casual games mostly associated with the Nintendo Wii. This can be easily remedied by a new age of platformers. Save for Ratchet and Clank, there are no decent platformers out for the Xbox or PS3. It's all FPS all the time. Seriously, how many non "hardcore" gamers do you know have played and loved all of the Crash Bandicoot games? If there is a resurgence of platformers, the casual gamers will come to the Xbox and the PS3 without having motion control forced on us. Kinect and Playstation Move are over priced and will not take the casual audience from the Wii. Great platformers, however, I think can bring casual gamers to these two systems. It won't happen, though. That 18-34 demographic is what all those FPS's are aimed at and that will not die down any time soon.
